Sangareddy: A major fire gutted sugarcane crop in about 40 acres at Ippapally village in Mogudampally mandal on Tuesday afternoon.

Sangareddy: A major fire gutted sugarcane crop in about 40 acres at Ippapally village in Mogudampally mandal on Tuesday afternoon.

The ready-to-harvest sugarcane crops were reduced to ashes in the fields of farmers Pentappa, Subhash, Jaipal, MD Jabbar, Shafi, Jameer, Ameer and Ashok Reddy. These farmers reportedly lost crops worth Rs 1 crore in the fire accident. Though the farmers attempted to control the fire by pouring water initially, it spread to other parts and they finally gave up
