Tamil Nadu : CS-CID arrest two persons for smuggling PDS rice in Ranipet
The Civil Supplies-Criminal Investigation Department (CS-CID) police on Sunday arrested two persons for smuggling goods meant for supply under the Public Distribution System and seized five tonnes of rice at Vanapadi village near Ranipet.
The Civil Supplies-Criminal Investigation Department (CS-CID) police on Sunday arrested two persons for smuggling goods meant for supply under the Public Distribution System and seized five tonnes of rice at Vanapadi village near Ranipet. The arrested persons were S. Logeshwaran, 32, a native of Mosur village near Thimiri town in Ranipet, and S. Inamuddin, a resident of Arani town in Tiruvannamalai. Based on the orders of Ranipet Collector J.U. Chandrakala, special police teams were formed to prevent PDS rice smuggling in the district. During a vehicle check, a police team found a lorry parked on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway and found a large consignment of PDS rice.
