“EPA Greenlights Summer E15 Sales as Pressure Mounts on Congress for Long-Term Fix”

(Washington D.C.) — Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor says expanding ethanol blends from E10 to E15 could boost corn demand by two billion bushels and generate seven billion more gallons of ethanol annually. With drivers saving up to 20 cents per gallon, she urges Congress to make E15 sales permanent, following the EPA’s temporary summer waiver issued last week.
(Washington D.C.) — Emily Skor, CEO of Growth Energy, a trade association representing U.S. ethanol producers, tells KSOM/KS95 News most drivers today use fuel with a 10% ethanol blend. She notes that increasing the blend to a 15%—level compatible with 96% of vehicles on the road—would create demand for an additional two billion bushels of corn grind each year, and seven billion gallons of ethanol production. Skor says this would save American consumers $20 billion in fuels saving annually.
Last week, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin issued a waiver allowing the sale of E15 fuel this summer. According to Skor, the focus now shifts to Congress, which ultimately needs to pass a permanent legislative fix to end the recurring need for regulatory action.
Drivers using E15 are saving between 15 and 20 cents per gallon—savings that matter now more than ever for families across the country. Meanwhile, Skor is optimistic Congress will vote this through. She says President Trump has a history of supporting E15, by referencing biofuels in day one of his executive order.
Again, that is Emily Skor, CEO of Growth Energy, speaking with KSOM in Washington D.C.
