Brazil’s corn exports fell 32% in August
Brazil’s corn exports fell 32% year-on-year to 4.66 million tonnes in August 2026, while average export prices rose 9.8% to $217.4 per tonne. Continued lower shipments could tighten global supplies and support international corn prices.
Brazil exported 4.66 mln tons of corn in August 2026, down 32% from the same period last year. Shipments totaled 6.85 mln tons in August 2025, according to Secex data.
Average daily corn exports amounted to 221.7 thsd tons last month, down 32% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the value of August exports declined to $1.01 billion from $1.36 billion a year earlier.
Despite the decline in physical shipments, the average export price of Brazilian corn rose 9.8% year-on-year to $217.4/t.
Exports declined year-on-year for the second consecutive month. In July, Brazil shipped 1.94 mln tons of corn to foreign markets, down 20.2% from July 2025. However, compared with July, August shipments more than doubled seasonally.
Brazil is one of the world’s largest corn exporters, so continued shipments below last year’s levels could provide additional support to global prices. The increase in the average export price of Brazilian corn also remains a supportive factor.
