Ricketts Declares May 2025 as Renewable Fuels Month in U.S.

U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts spotlighted renewable fuels and Nebraska farmers, promoting May 2025 as Renewable Fuels Month. He emphasized ethanol’s cost savings and its $6 billion economic impact. Nebraska, the nation’s second-largest ethanol producer, hosts 25 plants producing 2.2 billion gallons annually and supporting over 1,300 jobs. Ricketts called biofuels a win for both families and agriculture.

U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts highlighted his efforts to promote renewable fuels and Nebraska’s farmers Wednesday during his weekly press call.

Ricketts recently led a resolution declaring May 2025 as Renewable Fuels Month in America, underscoring the cost savings renewable fuels provide Nebraskan families.

“Owners of flex fuel vehicles, which can run on blends of up to E85, can save even more. The last time I filled up at Hy-Vee, I saved $0.55 a gallon when I filled up with E10 compared to the regular 89 Octane,” said Ricketts. “That’s saving money at the pump. That’s a real relief. Biofuels support Nebraska agriculture. Our state is America’s second largest ethanol producer. Our 25 ethanol plants have a capacity to make nearly 2.2 billion gallons each year.”

Ricketts say these plants provide more than 1,300 good-paying jobs with an annual economic impact of more than $6 billion.
