Romania ends MY 2024/25 as leader in grain exports with EU


Romania has ended the 2024–2025 agricultural season as the EU’s top exporter of wheat, barley, and corn. It exported over 5.47 million tons of wheat, 2.07 million tons of barley, and 1.23 million tons of corn, surpassing traditional leaders like France and Germany. Favorable weather and strong harvests helped Romania dominate EU grain exports this year.
Romania ends the agricultural season (July 2024 to June 2025) as the EU’s leading wheat exporter. At the same time, it is also the leader in barley and corn supplies.
The sales volume of Romanian soft wheat from July 1, 2024 to June 29, 2025 inclusive amounted to 5,478,528.7 tons, the monetary value was EUR 1,241,735,656, the average price was EUR 0.23/kg.
However, last season, the country was overtaken by France, which now ranks only 6th, as sales volumes were affected by unfavorable weather conditions in the spring of 2024. Germany was in second place in the last season, and Lithuania in third.
Romania ends this trading year in first place in barley with a harvest volume of 2,072,478.5 tons. The financial value is 390,981,212 euros, and the average price is 0.19 euros/kg. France is in 2nd place, Germany is in 3rd.
The country also ranks first in corn exports to Europe with a volume of 1,234,241.1 tons, valued at 304,164,991 euros, with an average price of 0.25 euros/kg. Here Poland is in 2nd place, and France is in 3rd.
