Top 6 importers of Ukrainian sugar


Ukraine exported 580,000 tons of sugar in the 2024/25 marketing year, down 16% from 692,000 tons a year earlier, according to the National Association of Sugar Producers. Key buyers included the EU (17%), Turkey (14%), and Libya (10%). Farmers have begun beet harvesting, with 2025/26 output forecast at 1.5 million tons.
Ukraine exported 580,000 tons of sugar during the 2024/25 marketing year, accounting for 32% of the country’s total production.
This figure is 16% lower than in the previous marketing year, when the country exported 692,000 tons, according to the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine.
The main importers of Ukrainian sugar in the 2024/25 marketing year were:
- EU — 17%
- Turkey — 14%
- Libya — 10%
- North Macedonia — 8%
- Lebanon — 5%
- Somalia — 5%
Among EU countries, the main buyer was Bulgaria, which imported 59% of the total volume.
The association also noted that Ukrainian farmers have already started harvesting sugar beets for processing in the 2025/26 season. The updated sown area amounts to 198,000 hectares, and the sugar production forecast stands at 1.5 million tons.
