UNICA: Brazil Sugarcane processing expands in early August

UNICA reports sugarcane processing in Brazil’s south-central region rose 8.17% in early August to 47.63 MMT, though seasonal totals remain 6.62% lower. Ethanol output reached 2.19 billion liters, with corn ethanol up nearly 15%. Overall sales hit 1.48 billion liters, driven by higher anhydrous demand despite weaker hydrous sales.

UNICA, the Brazilian sugarcane industry association, has announced sugarcane processing trended higher during the first half of August. The production of sugarcane ethanol is down when compared to the previous harvest season, but corn ethanol production is up.
