India has adopted a 6-year plan to develop pulses production

On October 1, India approved a six-year, ₹110 billion ($1.2 billion) plan to boost pulse cultivation. The program aims to raise domestic production, reduce imports, and ensure food security through research, high-yield seeds, area expansion, and price support. By 2030–31, pulse cultivation is projected at 31 million hectares, yielding 35 million tonnes.

On October 1, the Indian Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved a six-year plan to stimulate the cultivation of pulses in the country. Funding totaling 110 billion rupees (US$1.2 billion) is earmarked for this purpose. The initiative aims to increase domestic pulse production, reduce dependence on imports, and ensure food security in the country.

The comprehensive strategy will encompass research, the provision of high-yielding seeds, expansion of cultivated area, and price stabilization. By 2030–31, pulses area in the country is expected to increase to 31 million hectares, and the yield to 35 million tonnes.
