England’s wheat crop up 4.9% despite lower yields


England’s 2025 wheat harvest is provisionally estimated at 10.6 million tons, up 4.9% from last year, driven by an 8.8% rise in planted area to 1.5 million hectares, despite a 3.6% drop in average yield to 7.0 tons/ha. Rapeseed is projected at 722,000 tons (+5.5%), while barley falls to 4.2 million tons (-14%).
England’s wheat harvest this year is provisionally estimated at 10.6 million metric tons, up 4.9% from the previous season, Britain’s farming and environment ministry said on Thursday.
The rise was driven by an 8.8% increase in planted area to 1.5 million hectares. Average yield declined by 3.6% to 7.0 tons per hectare.
The ministry estimated the rapeseed crop in England at 722,000 tons, up 5.5% from last year, and barley production at 4.2 million tons, down 14%.
