Bangladesh : Another shipment of over 60,000mt of US wheat arrives at Ctg port
Bangladesh has received another 60,802 MT of wheat from the United States, arriving at Chittagong Port under a government-to-government agreement. This shipment is part of a total 440,000 MT deal, with the first batch delivered in October. Sample testing has begun to ensure prompt clearance and distribution.
Another consignment of over 60,000 metric tonnes (MTs) of wheat from United States (US) has arrived at Chittagong Port.
MV SPAR ARIES carrying 60,802 MTs of wheat docked at the outer anchorage of the country’s premier seaport on Monday, said a statement of the Ministry of Food.
The shipment came under the cash purchase agreement No-G to G-01, signed as part of a Memorandum of Understanding between the US and Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is importing wheat from the US on a government-to-government (G to G) basis.
Under the agreement, a total of 440,000 MTs of wheat will be imported while the first consignment of 56,959 MTs arrived on 25 October last.
Sample testing of the wheat on board has already started and necessary measures are being taken for its prompt clearance.
