Telangana plans to buy Kharif season rice

Telangana Civil Supplies Corporation will procure 75 lakh tonnes of paddy from an expected 159 lakh tonnes this Kharif. It has opened 8,332 procurement centres and introduced India’s first automatic paddy dryers and cleaners to improve grain quality, speed processing, and reduce weather-related losses.

The Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation plans to buy 75 lakh tonnes of paddy from the expected 159 lakh tonnes produced this year. For the Kharif season, they have set up 8,332 centers to collect paddy. These include 4,252 Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies (PACS), 3,522 Integrated Kukatpally Project (IKP) centers, and 558 other locations.

DS Chauhan, the Civil Supplies Commissioner, spoke at a press meeting with Zendage Hanumant Kondiba and B Rohit Singh about the Kharif season’s strategy. New to this season are Automatic Paddy Dryers and Cleaners, a first in India. These machines are gaining attention from other states, with Karnataka showing interest in purchasing them after seeing their use in Telangana.

During the briefing, a video showed how these machines work. The Automatic Dryers help keep moisture in check, ensuring good grain quality and preventing losses. These dryers speed up the process, making it less reliant on weather.

Automatic Paddy Cleaners also debut this season. They reduce moisture by 2% and require less labor by using a vacuum system to handle the paddy.

Additionally, 56 border check-posts have been set up across 17 districts to control unlawful paddy movement. Key districts include MancherialAsifabadAdilabadNirmalNizamabadKamareddySangareddyVikarabadNarayanpetGadwalNagarkurnoolNalgondaSuryapetKhammamKothagudemMulugu, and Bhupalpally.

To protect farmers and their crops, a rain forecast system has been introduced. The Telangana Civil Supplies Department is preparing for any unexpected rains, ensuring procurement centers are ready with necessary facilities. They are working closely with the Agriculture Marketing Department to provide better services to farmers during the Kharif season.
