Ukrainian soybean oil accounts for almost half of the European market
Ukraine’s share of EU soybean imports slipped to 9.5%, but performance in processed products strengthened. Soybean meal share rose to 4.4%, while soybean oil exports surged nearly sevenfold, making Ukraine the EU’s top supplier and highlighting Europe’s shift toward value-added imports.
Ukraine’s share of European soybean imports has decreased to 9.5%. Meanwhile, the situation in the processed products segment is significantly more positive.
Alexander Solovey, CEO of Spike Brokers, discussed this in an article for The Ukrainian Farmer.
According to him, soybean meal imports into the EU have decreased, but Ukraine’s share has increased to 4.4%, indicating increased competitiveness among processors.
“The most telling development was the soybean oil trend: Ukraine became the leading supplier, increasing volumes almost sevenfold and capturing almost half of the European market. This is a clear signal that the EU is gradually reducing raw material imports while maintaining high demand for value-added products,” noted Alexander Solovey.
