KARACHI: The Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA) has confirmed that there is no shortage of ghee and edible oil in the country, despite ongoing geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions stemming from the US-Iran conflict.
PVMA Chairman Sheikh Umer Rehan stated that Pakistan’s supply of ghee and edible oil remains stable and secure, even in the face of the uncertain regional environment. He emphasized that the country currently holds sufficient reserves of both ghee and edible oil to meet domestic consumption needs for the next two months.
“Pakistan will not face any shortage of ghee or edible oil,” Sheikh Umer Rehan said, highlighting that the industry is fully prepared to ensure a smooth supply of these essential commodities in the market. He further explained that local manufacturers have ample stocks of both raw materials and finished products, which supports the continued availability of ghee and edible oil nationwide.
Additionally, Sheikh Umer Rehan noted that several import consignments are currently in progress, further strengthening the country’s inventory and ability to meet consumer demand. He reassured the public and stakeholders that the industry is closely monitoring the situation and is ready to address any potential challenges that may arise due to external factors.
The PVMA’s statement comes amid concerns over the impact of regional conflicts on supply chains, particularly for essential food items.
