A cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday, March 23, approved 35 proposals, including a significant decision to increase the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of wheat by ₹160 per quintal. The decision aims to provide relief to farmers ahead of the procurement season.
The meeting was held at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow at 11 am. According to officials, wheat procurement in the state will begin on March 30, 2026, and continue until June 15, 2026. The procurement process will be carried out through 6,500 centres across all 75 districts of the state.
Eight agencies will be involved in the procurement process. These include the Food Corporation of India (FCI), UP Mandi Parishad, PCF, PCU, UPSS, NAFED, and NCCF. Officials said the expanded procurement network is intended to ensure smooth purchase operations and better access for farmers.
In another key decision, the cabinet approved the construction of an International Exhibition Center in Lucknow. The project, estimated at ₹1,435 crore, will include a convention hall with a seating capacity of 10,000 people.
The government also approved a proposal to establish an Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Centre in Sambhal district. Additionally, under the Uttar Pradesh Multi-Modal Logistics Park 2024 policy, the tender process for building a logistics warehouse in Greater Noida has been cleared.
The cabinet further approved the implementation of the “Navyug Palika Yojana”, announced in the state budget, to develop district headquarters into smart urban centres. The scheme will be implemented in 58 district headquarters across the state, excluding the 17 districts that already have municipal corporations.
Meanwhile, ahead of the meeting, Deputy Chief Ministers Brijesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya criticised the Samajwadi Party. Pathak accused the party of hypocrisy on women’s safety, while Maurya claimed that former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav would not return to power until 2047.
