Canada’s grain and oilseed exports fell 2%

Canada’s agri exports dipped 2% to 33.5 MMT in 2025–26 so far, with sharp declines in canola and corn shipments. However, strong growth in wheat, barley, pulses, and lentils highlights shifting export dynamics, keeping overall trade relatively stable despite commodity-specific weaknesses.

From the start of the current season, which began on August 1, 2025, to March 29, 2026, Canada exported 33.5 million tonnes of grains, pulses, and oilseeds, down 2% from the same period last season, according to Zerno Online, citing the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC).

Canola exports fell to 5.3 million tonnes (-23% compared to the same period last season), and corn exports fell to 0.4 million tonnes (-73%).

At the same time, soft wheat exports increased to 14.5 million tonnes (+4%), durum wheat to 3.8 million tonnes (+4%), barley to 2.3 million tonnes (+70%), peas to 1.8 million tonnes (+24%), and lentils to 1.0 million tonnes (+20%).

3.6 million tons of soybeans were exported, the same as last season.
