Sugar exports resume at New Mangalore port as vessel carries 25,000 tonnes shipment
Sugar exports have resumed at New Mangalore Port after months, with 25,000 MT shipped via MV New Legacy. The revival of bagged sugar shipments is expected to boost export activity and improve sugar movement from the region.
Mangaluru: After a long gap, sugar export activity has resumed at the New Mangalore Port with the arrival of a vessel carrying a large consignment of bagged sugar.
MV New Legacy docked at the port with 25,000 metric tonnes of Indian refined white sugar meant for export. On its X handle, officials said the vessel’s arrival marks the revival of bagged sugar shipments from the port, which had not seen such movement since October 2025, Deccan Herald reported.
Port authorities described the development as an important step in restarting sugar export operations. The vessel and its crew were welcomed by officials, who marked the occasion by presenting a memento to the ship’s master.
The resumption of shipments is expected to support export activity at the port and provide a boost to the movement of sugar from the region.
