Bihar Cabinet approves grain-based ethanol plant and power unit in Kaimur

The Bihar Cabinet approved ₹73.45 crore in incentives for a 60 KLPD grain-based ethanol plant and 2-MW captive power unit in Kaimur district, expected to create 93 jobs. It also cleared an ₹88.18 crore parboiled rice unit in Nalanda employing 185 workers, alongside tourism support for direct IndiGo flights between Gaya and Bangkok.

The Bihar Cabinet has approved incentives worth Rs 73.45 crore for setting up a grain-based ethanol plant and captive power generation unit in Kaimur district, strengthening the state’s push toward industrial growth and biofuel production.

The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary in Patna on Wednesday, where 13 major proposals related to infrastructure, security, tourism and industry were cleared, Hans India reported.

According to the Cabinet decision, the proposed project will include a 60 KLPD grain-based ethanol plant along with a 2-megawatt power generation facility. The project is expected to create employment opportunities for 93 skilled and unskilled workers.

The approval has been granted under the Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion framework as the state looks to attract fresh investments in the industrial and renewable energy sectors.

Apart from the ethanol project, the Cabinet also cleared the establishment of a 960 MTPD parboiled rice production unit in Nalanda with an investment of Rs 88.18 crore. The unit is expected to provide jobs to 185 workers.

The meeting also approved several initiatives linked to sports infrastructure, border security, science and technology, water resources and international air connectivity.

Among the major tourism-related decisions, the Cabinet approved Rs 10.40 crore for selecting IndiGo to operate direct international flights between Gaya International Airport and Bangkok, aiming to boost tourist and Buddhist pilgrim arrivals in Bihar.
