Saudi Arabia harvests 1.3 mln tons of wheat
Saudi Arabia cultivated 331,000 hectares of grains and produced 1.75 million tons, with wheat contributing 1.314 million tons and covering 63.4% of grain area. Al-Jawf led grain cultivation, while Riyadh topped vegetable production. Watermelon dominated open-field vegetable farming with 614,000 tons output.
According to data from Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics, the country’s total grain cultivation area reached 331 thsd ha, of which 323 thsd ha were harvested. Total grain production amounted to 1.75 mln tons. The Al-Jawf region ranked first among the Kingdom’s administrative regions in terms of grain-growing area, with 62 thsd ha.
Wheat remained the country’s dominant grain crop, accounting for 63.4% of the total grain-cultivated area. Wheat production reached 1.314 mln tons, reinforcing its key role in Saudi Arabia’s grain sector and domestic food supply.
The report also showed that open-field vegetable cultivation covered 88,700 ha, producing 2.531 mln tons. Riyadh Region led the country in open-field vegetable production, while watermelon was the most widely grown vegetable crop, representing 26.7% of the total open-field vegetable area and generating 614 thsd tons of output.
