Kazakhstan’s food wheat stocks fall below last year’s level

Kazakhstan’s wheat stocks fell 1.4% year-on-year to 5.61 million tonnes as of July 1, 2026, with lower food and seed wheat inventories. However, total grain and pulse stocks rose to 6.98 million tonnes, supported by higher barley and corn stocks.

As of July 1, 2026, Kazakhstan had about 5.61 million tons of wheat in stock, down 1.4% from 5.69 million tons a year earlier, APK-Inform reports, citing official statistics.

Food wheat stocks stood at about 5.1 million tons as of July 1, compared with 5.24 million tons on the same date last year. Seed wheat stocks totaled 97 thousand tons (111.5 thousand tons a year earlier), while feed wheat stocks amounted to about 386 thousand tons (338.2 thousand tons).

Durum wheat stocks totaled about 363 thousand tons, including 246.9 thousand tons of food-grade wheat.

Barley stocks as of July 1, 2026 were significantly higher than a year earlier at about 727 thousand tons, compared with 502 thousand tons.

Corn stocks totaled 71 thousand tons (63 thousand tons a year earlier), while oat stocks stood at about 95 thousand tons (118 thousand tons). Buckwheat stocks declined to 38 thousand tons from 48 thousand tons on the same date in 2025.

Overall, Kazakhstan’s stocks of grains and pulses (including rice) totaled 6.98 million tons as of July 1, compared with 6.68 million tons a year earlier.
