India’s jaggery exports decline to $46.67 million in 2025-26 from previous year
India’s jaggery exports were valued at $46.67 million in 2025-26, down from $49.39 million a year earlier. Tamil Nadu led exports at $9.28 million, followed by Maharashtra at $8.22 million and Kerala at $4.54 million. April-May 2026-27 exports reached $5.66 million.
India’s jaggery exports were valued at $46.67 million in 2025-26, marginally lower than $49.39 million in the previous year, according to data from the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S) cited by the Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ramnath Thakur, in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
Responding to a question by MP Gowaal Kagada Padavi, the Minister said exports for April-May of the current 2026-27 fiscal stood at $5.66 million. Jaggery export values had risen steadily from $32.47 million in 2021-22 to $42.68 million in 2023-24 and further to $49.39 million in 2024-25, before easing slightly in 2025-26.
State-wise data showed Tamil Nadu as the largest exporter, with shipments valued at $9.28 million in 2025-26, followed by Maharashtra at $8.22 million and Kerala at $4.54 million. Gujarat, Punjab and Bihar recorded exports of $3.65 million, $4.09 million and $3.22 million, respectively, during the year, while Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand contributed $1.94 million and $1.26 million.
The data, compiled by the DGCI&S, covers state-wise jaggery export values from 2021-22 through the first two months of 2026-27, providing a year-on-year view of trends in India’s jaggery trade even as sugarcane utilisation across major producing states has shown a declining trend over the same period.
