Government directs sugar mills to furnish buyer-wise sale details for August 20-25
India’s Directorate of Sugar & Vegetable Oils has directed all sugar mills to submit complete mill-wise and buyer-wise sugar sales details for August 20–25, 2026. Mills must provide transaction-wise quantity, rate and buyer details by noon September 3, with delays or non-compliance to be viewed seriously.
The Directorate of Sugar & Vegetable Oils, under the Department of Food and Public Distribution, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, has directed all sugar mills to furnish complete mill-wise and buyer-wise details of sugar sold between August 20 and 25, 2026, according to a communication issued to chief executive officers and managing directors of sugar mills on September 2, 2026.
The directive was issued in continuation of an earlier communication dated August 20, 2026, and asks mills to submit the sales information in a prescribed format enclosed with the letter, according to the communication. The information is to be furnished quantity-wise, rate-wise and date-wise, with each individual sale transaction reported separately.
Details for every date between August 20 and 25, 2026, are to be submitted separately, the communication said, and where multiple sales have been made on the same day at different rates or to different buyers, each such transaction must be recorded individually. Mills have also been asked to furnish the name, complete address, telephone or mobile number, and Goods and Services Tax (GST) registration number of the buyer for every transaction. The quantity sold is to be reported strictly in quintals, with the rate indicated in Rs per quintal.
The communication stated that the information furnished must be complete, accurate and duly verified by the concerned sugar mill before submission. It has been made mandatory for all sugar mills to furnish the details by 12 noon on September 3, 2026, through a designated official email address, in excel format, to sugarcontrol-fpd@gov.in.
The Department described the matter as most urgent, stating that any delay or failure to furnish the information within the stipulated time would be viewed seriously.
