EU 2026/27 soft wheat exports up
EU soft wheat exports reached 6.30 million tonnes by September 20, up 2% year-on-year, led by Romania with 2.93 million tonnes. Barley exports fell 41% to 1.78 million tonnes, while EU maize imports rose 27% to 4.47 million tonnes.
PARIS: European Union soft wheat exports in the 2026/27 season that began in July totalled 6.30 million metric tons by September 20, up from 5.61 million a week earlier and up 2percent year on year, European Commission data showed on Tuesday.
Romania was the largest EU soft wheat exporter so far this season with 2.93 million tons, followed by Lithuania (1.06 million tons), Bulgaria (0.56 million tons), Poland (0.51 million tons) and Germany (0.47 million tons).
Export data for France, which vies with Romania as the largest EU wheat exporter, has been incomplete since the beginning of 2024. For Bulgaria and Ireland it has been missing since the beginning of the 2023/24 marketing year, and for Greece since January 2026.
EU barley exports had reached 1.78 million tons, up from 1.70 million tons the previous week but down 41percent year on year.
In imports, flows of maize into the EU so far in 2026/27 had reached 4.47 million tons, up 0.46 million tons from the previous week and 27percent more than a year earlier.
