SunBridge BioEnergy begins commercial ethanol production at 300 KLD Seoni plant
SunBridge BioEnergy has started commercial production at its 300 KLD grain-based ethanol plant in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, with 11,000 KL storage capacity. Its total capacity is expected to reach 700 KLD after a 400 KLD Raipur plant begins operations. The facility also produces DDGS, DCO and recycles water.
Bengaluru: SunBridge BioEnergy Ltd, the bioenergy arm of SunBridge Group, has started commercial production at its grain-based fuel ethanol plant in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, The Hindu Businessline reported.
The facility has a production capacity of 300 kilolitres per day (KLD) and storage capacity of 11,000 kilolitres. It is spread across about 117,560 square metres, the company said in a statement.
SunBridge BioEnergy is also expanding its ethanol production capacity. The company’s total capacity is expected to reach 700 KLD once its 400 KLD facility in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, becomes operational.
The Seoni plant has been designed to make efficient use of resources during ethanol production. It also produces other products, including distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) and distillers corn oil (DCO), which are mainly used as feed for poultry and cattle.
The facility also has systems to recover and reuse water. Its operations follow a zero liquid discharge system aimed at reducing wastage and making better use of natural resources.
SunBridge Group Founder and Chairman Anuj Agarwal said the start of ethanol production at Seoni was an important step in the company’s expansion into bioenergy.
“Our focus is to build a scalable bioenergy platform that brings together energy and resource efficiency, while creating meaningful value for farmers and rural economies,” Agarwal said.
He said the Seoni facility marked the beginning of this journey and that the company saw significant potential to expand as India’s bioenergy sector develops, while supporting the shift towards sustainable energy and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
SunBridge BioEnergy uses damaged food grains, including maize and broken rice, to produce fuel-grade ethanol. The company said this grain-based production also supports farming communities by using damaged and broken rice that is not suitable for human consumption.
