Argentina more than doubles sunflower oil exports in June

Argentina’s sunflower oil exports more than doubled in June to 254,000 tonnes, driven by strong global demand and higher crushing. India remained the largest buyer, while first-half 2026 exports reached 1.03 million tonnes, up from 650,000 tonnes a year earlier.

Argentina significantly increased its sunflower oil exports in June, supported by strong international demand. According to Oil World, the country exported 254 thsd tons of sunflower oil during the month, more than doubling the volume shipped in June 2025.

India remained the largest buyer, importing 103 thsd tons, compared with 46 thsd tons a year earlier. Another 35 thsd tons were shipped to North African countries, while 30 thsd tons were exported to Jordan, from where part of the volume is expected to be re-exported to neighboring markets.

Higher exports were supported not only by robust demand but also by increased sunflower crushing. Argentine processors crushed 549 thsd tons of sunflower seed in June, up from 491 thsd tons in the same month of 2025.

Analysts expect crushing activity to remain above last year’s level during July-September, allowing Argentina to maintain strong exports of both sunflower oil and sunflower meal.

In total, Argentina exported 1.03 mln tons of sunflower oil in the first six months of 2026, compared with 650 thsd tons in the same period last year. Of that volume, 571 thsd tons were shipped to India, further strengthening its position as the leading destination for Argentine sunflower oil exports.
