Bangladesh : TCB to procure 1.90cr litres of soybean oil for Ramadan
The Bangladesh Commerce Ministry plans to procure 1.9 crore liters of edible oil for distribution through TCB ahead of Ramadan, allocating Tk189.14 crore for the process. TCB targets 28 crore liters for FY 2024-25, with agreements for 7 crore liters already underway. Locally, 2.2 crore liters of soybean oil will be procured to aid 1 crore low-income families at subsidized rates.
The commerce ministry took initiative to procure 1.90 crore litres of edible oil to sell through Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) ahead of Ramadan.
The government will spend Tk189.14 crore in the procurement process.
TCB has a target of procurement of 28 crore liters of edible oil in its annual procurement plan for the financial year 2024-25.
So far purchase agreement has been completed to buy 7,01,90,000 litres edible oil. It will be finalized in the meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Government Procurement.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, TCB has decided to purchase 2,20,00,000 liters of soybean oil locally with the aim of selling TCB products at subsidized prices to 1crore low-income families across the country.
