BKU seeks MSP for paddy, DAP for sowing wheat
A meeting of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Kadian) was held to address pressing issues faced by Punjab farmers. The union demanded swift action from the government on lifting paddy, ensuring the availability of DAP fertiliser, and setting a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy. If unresolved within five days, they plan to discuss the issues at the next Sanyukt Kisan Morcha meeting and initiate protests. The union criticized state policies, highlighting unpaid dues for farmers whose paddy was already lifted.
A meeting of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Kadian) was held here on riday. Addressing the meeting, president of the farmer organisation said the government should act swiftly and work on the lifting of paddy, make DAP fertiliser easily available to the farmers and grant MSP for paddy produce.
“If all these issues are not resolved within five days, then we will be left with no option but to discuss them in the next meeting of Sanyukt Kisan Morcha and outline the programme for struggle,” said BKU (Kadian) leaders.
“Today, Punjab’s farmer is suffering due to the wrong policies of the state government. Those farmers whose produce have been lifted are yet to get their payments,” the union alleged. It also demanded that DAP fertiliser should be made easily available to the farmers before the sowing of wheat starts.
