Cane crushing to start from Nov 25

Chandigarh: The Punjab government announced that sugarcane crushing will commence on November 25. This decision was made during a meeting of the State Sugarcane Control Board, led by Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian. He highlighted a 5% increase in sugarcane cultivation, with the crop now grown on 1 lakh hectares, up from approximately 95,000 hectares last year. This boost in area reflects a positive trend for the state’s sugar industry.

Chandigarh: The Punjab govt on Wednesday announced that sugarcane crushing in the state would begin from Nov 25. The decision in this regard was taken during a meeting of the State Sugarcane Control Board, chaired by agriculture minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian. He said Punjab saw a 5% hike in the area under sugarcane crop. This year, the crop has been cultivated on 1 lakh hectare area, which is up from around 95,000 hectares cultivated previous year, he added. TNN
