The Department of Food and Public Distribution has allowed sugar mills to sell sugar produced up to November 15, 2026, over and above their allocated sales quota for the first fortnight of November. The permission covers mills that began crushing in October as well as November.
The Department of Food and Public Distribution on Friday said that it has allowed sugar mills to sell sugar produced up to November 15, 2026, over and above their allocated sales quota for the first fortnight of November.
The permission applies to mills that began crushing in November as well as those that started operations in October, the ministry said in a post on X.
The department clarified that mills which commenced crushing in October were already permitted to sell the sugar produced during that month in November. The latest decision extends the additional sale permission to sugar produced up to November 15.
The communication follows the department’s September 30 announcement detailing the sugar sales quota for the first fortnight of November 2026.
