EcoCeres expands SAF storage capacity in Malaysia
EcoCeres has secured 100,000m³ of storage for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) at Dialog Terminals Langsat (DTL3) in Malaysia. This storage expansion follows EcoCeres’ investment in a new biorefinery in Pasir Gudang, expected to start operations in late 2025. The biorefinery will produce 350,000 tonnes per year of biofuels, including 220,000 tonnes of SAF and 130,000 tonnes of HVO.
Asia-based biofuels company EcoCeres has secured 100,000m³ of storage capacity for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) at Dialog Terminals Langsat (DTL3) in Malaysia, reported Oils and Fat International.
This agreement follows EcoCeres’ recent announcement of a major investment in a new production facility in Pasir Gudang, Johor Darul Ta’zim, Malaysia, as reported by DIALOG on July 29.
EcoCeres’ new biorefinery is anticipated to commence operations in the second half of 2025, while the expansion of storage at the terminal is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2027.
As per media report, according to a previous report on April 22, EcoCeres’ Chief Commercial Officer Jeremy Baines stated that the biorefinery would have a total capacity of 350,000 tonnes per year of biofuels, including 220,000 tonnes per year of SAF and 130,000 tonnes per year of HVO.
The new biorefinery, located less than 1km from DTL3, will be directly connected to DTL3’s storage tanks via pipelines.
DIALOG also mentioned that the remaining 50,000m³ of storage capacity at the terminal in Tanjung Langsat, Johor Darul Ta’zim, is expected to be leased to third-party clients, including multinational companies and trading houses.
Including the 24,000m³ currently under construction, DTL3 will offer a total storage capacity of approximately 230,000m³ for short- to medium-term energy traders and multinational companies.
DTL3 is adjacent to two other terminals: DIALOG Terminals Langsat 1 and DIALOG Terminals Langsat 2. Following the expansion at DTL3, the combined storage capacity of DTL1, DTL2, and DTL3 will surpass 1 million m³.
DIALOG is an integrated technical service provider to the energy sector both in Malaysia and internationally.
EcoCeres, based in Hong Kong, processes biomass waste into biofuels and biopolymers. In addition to producing HVO and SAF at a commercial scale, the company also manufactures cellulosic ethanol.
