EIA: Ethanol production down 1%, stocks up 2%, exports up 57%

U.S. fuel ethanol production averaged 1.102 million barrels per day for the week ending Jan. 3, down 9,000 barrels from the previous week. Stocks increased by over 2% to 24.148 million barrels, while exports rose nearly 57% to 155,000 barrels per day. Compared to last year, production increased, stocks decreased, and exports saw a slight decline.

U.S. fuel ethanol production was down nearly 1% the week ending Jan. 3, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Jan. 8. Stocks of fuel ethanol expanded by more than 2% and exports were up nearly 57%. 

Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.102 million barrels per day the week ending Jan. 3, down 9,000 barrels per day when compared to the 1.111 million barrels per day of production reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, production for the week ending Jan. 3 was up 40,000 barrels per day. 

Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol increased to 24.148 million barrels the week ending Jan. 3, up 509,000 barrels when compared to the 23.639 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending Jan. 3 were down 223,000 barrels. 

Exports of fuel ethanol averaged 155,000 barrels per day the week ending Jan. 3, up 56,000 barrels per day when compared to the 99,000 barrels per day of exports reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, exports for the week ending Jan. 3 were down 2,000 barrels per day. No imports of fuel ethanol were reported for the week ending Jan. 3.
