EIA: Ethanol Production Up 2%, Stocks Down 1%, Exports Down 10%
U.S. fuel ethanol production rose 2% to 1.019 million barrels per day the week ending May 17, per EIA data. Stocks fell 1% to 24.212 million barrels, while exports dropped 10% to 83,000 barrels per day. Compared to last year, production was up 36,000 barrels per day, and stocks increased by 2.171 million barrels. No imports were reported.
U.S. fuel ethanol production was up 2% the week ending May 17, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on May 22. Stocks of fuel ethanol were down 1% while exports were down 10%.
Fuel ethanol production averaged 1.019 million barrels per day the week ending May 17, up 19,000 barrels per day when compared to the 1 million barrels per day of production reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, production for the week ending May 17 was up 36,000 barrels per day.
Weekly ending stocks of fuel ethanol fell to 24.212 million barrels the week ending May 17, down 277,000 barrels when compared to the 24.489 million barrels of stocks reported for the previous week. When compared to the same week of last year, stocks for the week ending May 17 were up 2.171 million barrels.
Exports of fuel ethanol averaged 83,000 barrels per day the week ending May 17, down 9,000 barrels per day when compared to the 92,000 barrels per day of exports reported for the previous week. Data on weekly ethanol exports is not available for the corresponding week of 2023 as the EIA began reporting weekly data on fuel ethanol exports in June 2023. No fuel ethanol imports were reported for the week ending May 17.
