Fiji : 2026 sugar crushing season to begin in June

The Sugar Industry Tribunal has announced Fiji’s 2026 sugar crushing season schedule, with Lautoka Mill starting June 10, followed by Rarawai on June 16 and Labasa on June 17. Growers have been instructed to begin cane harvesting and deliveries a day before each mill’s operations commence.

The Sugar Industry Tribunal has announced the commencement dates for the 2026 sugar crushing season, with Lautoka Mill set to begin operations first on June 10.

In a press release issued yesterday, the Tribunal said the dates were determined following a submission from the Fiji Sugar Corporation and consultations with the chief executive of the Sugar Cane Growers Council.

According to the Tribunal, Rarawai Mill will begin crushing on June 16, while Labasa Mill is scheduled to start on June 17.

Growers in the respective mill areas have also been advised to begin harvesting and delivering cane ahead of the crushing dates.

Harvesting and cane delivery for Lautoka Mill area will begin on June 9, while growers supplying Rarawai Mill are to start on June 15. Labasa Mill area growers have been advised to begin harvesting and delivery on June 16.

The Tribunal said the expected dates for the termination of crushing at each of the three mills would be announced in September after reviewing harvesting and crushing performance.

The order was issued in accordance with Part IV of the Master Award.
