Godrej Agrovet inaugurated India’s first Integrated Oil Palm Complex in Telangana, with a planned ₹300 crore investment. The facility integrates seed production, R&D, nursery, milling and refining, aiming to expand oil palm cultivation from 10,000 to 30,000 hectares by 2030 while supporting farmers.
Godrej Agrovet Limited has inaugurated India’s first Integrated Oil Palm Complex in Khammam, Telangana, marking a significant step towards strengthening the country’s edible oil ecosystem. The company said its cumulative investment in the project will reach ₹300 crore once the entire complex becomes fully operational.
The integrated facility brings together every stage of the oil palm value chain under a single campus, including seed and genetics, nursery, a research and development (R&D) centre, an oil palm mill, and an upcoming state-of-the-art refinery. The project is aimed at boosting domestic oil palm production while supporting farmers with modern technology, high-quality planting material, and value-added services.
The complex was inaugurated by Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu in the presence of senior state ministers, Members of Parliament, and officials from the Godrej Industries Group. The event was attended by Nadir Godrej, Chairperson of Godrej Industries Group; Burjis Godrej, Chairperson Designate of Godrej Agrovet; Sunil Kataria, Managing Director and CEO of Godrej Agrovet; Sougata Niyogi, CEO of the company’s Oil Palm Business; and Rakesh Swami, Group President, Corporate Affairs, Godrej Industries Group.
As part of the integrated complex, Godrej Agrovet has established a seed garden in partnership with leading global companies to bring advanced oil palm genetics to India. The upcoming R&D centre will focus on developing hybrid planting material that is better suited to Telangana’s climatic conditions, helping improve productivity and supporting sustainable cultivation.
The company has also commenced operations at its oil palm mill, which has an initial processing capacity of 30 tonnes per hour. It is the first oil palm mill established by a private company in Telangana and has been designed for future expansion to 60 tonnes per hour. The increased capacity will support Godrej Agrovet’s plan to expand the area under oil palm cultivation in the state from the current 10,000 hectares to 30,000 hectares by 2030.
The integrated complex also houses the company’s Samadhan Centre, a dedicated facility that provides oil palm farmers with advisory services, technical guidance, access to quality farm inputs, and other essential support to improve productivity and farm outcomes.
