Government fixes 22 LMT monthly sugar quota for domestic sale in November 2024

In an announcement on October 28, the Food Ministry allocated a monthly sugar quota of 22 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) for November 2024, which is lower than the quantity allocated in November 2023. This quota will be effective from November 1, 2024.
In November 2023, the government allocated a sugar quota in two tranches totaling 23 LMT. In the first tranche, 15 LMT was allocated, followed by 8 LMT in the second tranche.
For October 2024, the government allocated a sugar quota of 25.5 LMT.
According to market experts, “The market is likely to remain stable with the end of the festivals and the start of the new season. The government is taking steps to ensure stable sugar prices.”
