Pakistan keen to export rice, pulses, fertiliser to Bangladesh
Pakistan’s TCP plans to export rice, pulses, fertiliser and edible oil to Bangladesh. A government-to-government food trade MoU with TCB is expected in early July. Both countries also agreed to strengthen trade, agriculture, industry cooperation and accelerate Joint Working Group activities.
The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) is interested in exporting rice, pulses, fertiliser and edible oil to Bangladesh, according to a Commerce Ministry press statement issued today.
Bangladesh’s jute and jute goods enjoy strong demand in Pakistan markets, TCP Chairman Aasim Azim Siddiqui said at a meeting with Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir at the Industries Ministry in Dhaka.
Aasim led a Pakistani delegation. Imran Haider, Pakistan’s high commissioner to Dhaka, was present at the meeting.
The TCP Chairman said a memorandum of understanding between the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) and TCP to facilitate government-to-government food trade was in its final stages, with the signing expected in the first week of July.
Commerce Minister Muktadir said stronger trade ties were essential for sustainable economic development, adding that greater coordination between the public and private sectors would create fresh investment and business opportunities.
Both sides agreed to expedite the Bangladesh-Pakistan Joint Working Group, exchange business delegations, and deepen cooperation in agriculture and industry.
