Punjab wheat arrivals cross 100 lakh MT; procurement at 97%, lifting lags

Punjab wheat arrivals crossed 100 lakh MT, with 100.1 lakh MT procured—about 85% of the target. However, lifting lags at just 39%, raising concerns over storage and logistics even as daily procurement outpaces arrivals and mandi inflows begin to decline.

Bathinda: Wheat arrivals in Punjab crossed 100 lakh metric tonnes (MT) on Monday.

Of the 103.5 lakh MT wheat that had arrived in mandis by the evening, 100.1 lakh MT had been procured, leaving 3.3 lakh MT unsold. With nearly 85% of the state’s 122 lakh MT target already received, arrivals have begun to decline.

On Monday, arrivals stood at 4.4 lakh MT, while procurement touched 4.9 lakh MT, exceeding the day’s inflow. However, lifting continued to lag, with only about 39% of procured grain moved so far. Around 5 lakh MT was lifted during the day.
