Rajasthan : Wheat gains in Kota; maize, rice steady
Wheat prices rose ₹50 per 100 kg in Kota, Rajasthan, due to improved demand despite steady arrivals, while prices remained unchanged in Navi Mumbai. Maize prices stayed stable across major markets, with traders closely monitoring delayed monsoon progress that could impact kharif sowing and future supplies.
Wheat prices showed mixed trends across key grain markets on Wednesday, with rates rising in Kota, Rajasthan, due to a modest increase in demand, while maize and rice prices remained largely unchanged amid steady arrivals and cautious market sentiment.
In Kota, wheat prices increased by ₹50 per 100 kg to ₹2,325-2,351 per 100 kg. Traders said arrivals remained steady at around 15,000 bags, but slightly improved buying interest supported the market.
Market participants noted that wheat prices are currently moving in response to short-term demand and supply dynamics after the government’s procurement operations concluded. However, wheat prices in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, remained unchanged at ₹2,700 per 100 kg. Traders said demand was largely need-based and sufficient supplies kept the market balanced.
Maize prices were steady in major markets. In Indore, maize was quoted at ₹2,175 per 100 kg, while prices in Davanagere, Karnataka, remained at ₹1,800-2,050 per 100 kg. Traders said the market is closely tracking the progress of the southwest monsoon, which has been delayed across several western, central and northern regions. They warned that prolonged delays could affect kharif maize sowing and production, potentially supporting prices in the coming months.
