Sangeet Singla appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Food & Public Distribution
In a recent bureaucratic reshuffle, Sangeet Singla has been appointed Joint Secretary of the Department of Food & Public Distribution, effective from the date he assumes charge, for a tenure lasting until March 12, 2025, or until further orders. A 2004 batch IDAS officer, Singla previously served as Director in the same department, where he contributed to policy initiatives aimed at enhancing the sugar industry and supporting farmers.
In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the appointments of several officers at the Joint Secretary and equivalent levels across multiple government departments on October 25.
Sangeet Singla, has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Food & Public Distribution, from the date of assumption of the charge of the post, for a combined tenure of six years upto 12th March, 2025, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, by upgrading a post of Director held by the officer. He is 2004 batch IDAS officer.
Earlier, in September 2020, Singla was appointed Director in the Department of Food and Public Distribution. He was recommended for central deputation by the Ministry of Defence and also served as an Associate Professor (SG) at the National Institute of Financial Management (NIFM).
During his tenure as Director, he made notable contributions to the sugar industry by implementing key policy initiatives that strengthened the sector.
Previously, on various occasions, he discussed the innovations needed in the sugar sector that the industry could adopt to improve efficiency and promote growth, not only as ‘annadata’ but also as ‘urjadata.’ He will work towards uplifting the sector and making farmers more progressive.”
