Sri Lanka : Tender calls for rice importers commence
Tenders are being called from November 29 for rice importers to apply as bulk suppliers. The government plans to import 70,000 MT of rice in multiple stages, aiming to release stocks ahead of the festive season. Distribution will occur through Lak Sathosa stores, supermarkets, and wholesale outlets. Importers have seven days to apply.
Tenders will be called from today (Nov. 29) to select rice importers.
According to Lak Sathosa Chairman – Dr. Samitha Perera, importers can apply to become bulk importers of rice within 07 days from today.
It is planned to import 70,000 MT of rice to the island under several stages and release stocks ahead of the festive season.
Dr. Perera has further said that it is planned to distribute the rice stocks through Lak Sathosa stores as well as through supermarkets and general wholesale stores.
