Sugar, rice godowns sealed in Mansehra
MANSEHRA: The district administration and food department launched a crackdown on sugar and rice hoarders and sealed several godowns in Thakra and other areas here on Thursday.
A smuggler was also taken into custody, according to assistant district food controller Shaukat Sultan.
He told reporters that the crackdown was meant to ensure stability of the prices of essential commodities recently fixed by the district price control and review committee headed by deputy commissioner Shahid Rao.
Mr Sultan said the joint team led by him and assistant commissioner Ali Imtiaz raided godowns, seized hundreds of rice and sugar bags, and sealed buildings.
He said smuggler Abdul Raheem was also arrested and shifted to the police station.
