Uttar Pradesh: Babhnan sugar mill to start operations on November 21
The Babhnan sugar mill in Basti, Uttar Pradesh, is set to start its crushing season on November 21, with preparations in full swing. Sugarcane purchase centers are being set up, and routes are being improved for smooth transportation. Farmers near the Gonda-Basti border, who largely rely on sugarcane farming, are pleased with the timely start, as it allows them to sell their crop and prepare for wheat sowing. K.P. Singh, the mill’s Welfare Officer, confirmed the mill will adhere to its traditional schedule, ensuring continuity for the local farming community.

Farmers near the Gonda and Basti border, where sugar mill is located, are pleased that the crushing season is starting on time. Farmers say that if the mill starts on schedule, they will be able to sell their sugarcane and still have time to sow wheat. Around 80 per cent of the farmers in this region rely on sugarcane farming. Babhnan sugar mill’s Welfare Officer, K.P. Singh, confirmed that, as in previous years, the mill will begin crushing according to tradition and established practices.
