Uzbekistan’s sugar imports hit record 505,400 tons in seven months

Uzbekistan imported 505,400 tonnes of sugar in the first seven months of 2026, 2.7 times more than the same period last year, at an average $688/tonne. Imports nearly matched 2025’s full-year volume, with July recording the highest monthly inflow at 99,200 tonnes, reflecting rising demand and international prices.

According to the Customs Committee, the country imported 505,400 tons of sugar during the first seven months of the year at an average price of $688 per ton.

The volume was 2.7 times higher than in the same period of 2025, when Uzbekistan imported 187,200 tons worth $116 million. The average import price then stood at $619 per ton, meaning sugar was about 11% more expensive on the international market this year.

The seven-month figure is also close to the 516,000 tons imported during the whole of 2025. By comparison, Uzbekistan imported 275,200 tons of sugar in 2024.

July recorded the highest monthly volume of sugar imports this year, at 99,200 tons. The lowest figure was recorded in January, at 51,500 tons.

Imports in the other months stood at 60,000 tons in February, 70,900 tons in March, 80,000 tons in April, 68,500 tons in May and 75,300 tons in June.

The sharp increase in imports means that Uzbekistan has already brought in almost as much sugar in seven months of 2026 as it did during the entire previous year.
