The Yogi has set a goal of procuring a substantial 60 lakh metric tonnes of wheat in the 2024-25 fiscal year. To achieve this target, they plan to operate 6,500 procurement centres, a significant increase from the existing 6,414.

The high farmer registration count of nearly 3,00,000 reflects the transparency of the administration’s process. Currently, 2.75 lakh farmers have registered across 6,414 centers, with verification underway for 1,91,492. Notably, 72,100 farmers utilised the online portal for registration, while 2.02 lakh were registered through designated agencies. The administration has also included 854 sharecroppers in the process.
The reports submitted by the overseeing nodal officer have been instrumental in guiding the government’s directives on wheat procurement. Principal secretary Alok Kumar and commissioner Saurabh Babu conducted on-site inspections in Sitapur, Lakhimpur, Mahoba, and other districts, highlighting the progress made. Despite any existing challenges, meticulous preparations have ensured a prompt commencement of procurement when the market arrivals begin.
