Centre Approves Wheat, Broken Rice Exports
The Indian government permits wheat and broken rice exports to selected countries following requests. Export ban lifted for financial year 2023. Requests approved from Indonesia, Gambia, Senegal, and Nepal. Indian exporters must bid for allocated quota.
The Centre has decided to approve wheat and broken rice exports to selected countries, after these countries requested India for allowing shipment of the grains. This was stated by the government in
notifications issued on Tuesday late. According to reports, India banned the exports of wheat and broken rice in 2022. The move was taken to lower prices in the local market.
However, after requests from countries like Indonesia, Gambia and Senegal, India will allow export of broken rice for the financial year 2023 The centre has also approved requests from Nepal and allowed
wheat exports in the current financial year.
As per the government notifications, the Indian exporters who will be exporting grains to these countries will need to bid for the allocated quota of wheat and broken rice.
