Begusarai, Bihar: On Wednesday, Union minister Nitin Gadkari hailed hydrogen as the “fuel of the future” and emphasized that vehicles across the country would transition to green fuels in the coming years, reported PTI.
Speaking at an election rally in Begusarai in support of BJP leader and Union minister Giriraj Singh, Gadkari highlighted, “India annually imports fossil fuel… soon, our farmers will generate green fuels.” He emphasized the significance of hydrogen as the fuel of the future and predicted that vehicles nationwide would transition to green fuels in the near future. Gadkari commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts towards the holistic development of the nation and the well-being of farmers.
Gadkari also talked about ethanol. He thinks it will change how farming works in India. Instead of just growing food, farmers can also make energy. He wants to see more vehicles running on ethanol in a few years, like motorcycles and cars.
“Increased demand for ethanol will change the agro-economy of the country… this will make farmers ‘urjadata’ (providers of energy)… they will no longer remain ‘annadata’ (providers of food),” he said.
Gadkari emphasized that the ethanol industry is a blessing for farmers and demand for it will increase which will change the agro-economy of the country.
