Govt shares pics of duplicate labels being put on fakeedible oil

In Rajasthan’s Ajmer, a medical team confiscated approximately 18,000 liters of misbranded edible oil. The team uncovered a scheme involving duplicates and varied labels from renowned brands, along with misbranding and adulteration practices. Authorities, including the health department and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, have disseminated images depicting the counterfeit oil and duplicate labels. This discovery sheds light on the ongoing challenges of food safety and fraudulent practices in the industry.

A medical team in Rajasthan’s Ajmer seized around 18,000 litres of misbranded edible oil. “Here, edible oil was being prepared by using duplicates and different labels of various famous brands and by misbranding and adulteration,” the team said. The heath department and Food Safety and Standards Authority of India have shared the pictures of fake oil and duplicate labels.
