US biodiesel production rose to 149 million gallons in May: Energy Information Administration

The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported that biodiesel production rose to 149 million gallons in May from 140 million gallons in April. Soybean oil remained the primary feedstock, with 581 million pounds used in May, accounting for 51% of the total. In April, 520 million pounds of soybean oil were used for biodiesel production.

According to a report by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Tuesday, biodiesel production in the U.S. increased to 149 million gallons in May, up from 140 million gallons the previous month.

Soybean oil continued to be the primary biodiesel feedstock, accounting for 581 million pounds used in May, which constituted approximately 51 percent of the total. In April, the amount of soyoil used for biodiesel production was 520 million pounds.
