Ludhina: Over 6.64 lakh mt wheat procured, Pungrain leads payments
The district administration has procured 6,64,274 metric tons of wheat so far, out of the 6,71,543 metric tons wheat that arrived for sale at various grain markets and purchase centres in Ludhiana.
State-owned procurement agency Pungrain is leading in terms of clear payments of wheat procurement from farmers in Ludhiana. As per data from Food, Civil and Supply department, the agency has made payments amounting to ₹332.76 crore to the farmers who sold their wheat grains to it till Thursday.
The data shows that Markfed and Punsup, other state procurement agencies, have cleared payments amounting to ₹290.98 crore and ₹289.50 crore, respectively.
Punjab State Warehousing Corporation has also paid ₹171.93 crore as payments to farmers for wheat procurement.
Food Corporation of India, the central agency, has also cleared payments amounting to ₹31.15 crore.
