Data accuracy: Various Group Sugar Mills develop their API module and around 100 mills are in advanced stage of integration

The Indian government is integrating sugar mills’ ERP/SAP systems with the NSWS portal through APIs to ensure real-time and accurate data on sugar and ethanol production. While some mills have advanced in this process, others are yet to begin API development. The government has set a strict deadline and provided guidelines, urging timely completion to streamline data accuracy and compliance.

The government is taking steps to establish the accuracy of data related to sugar and ethanol production. To ensure real-time data availability, data accuracy, and the elimination of redundant data, the government has initiated the process of integrating the ERP/SAP systems of sugar mills with the NSWS portal through APIs. Many sugar mills have begun the API integration, while some have not started developing their API modules. Therefore, the government has directed these mills to develop their API modules and complete the entire integration process in a timely manner.

Various Group Sugar Mills as well as individual sugar mills have developed their API module and about 100 sugar mills are in advanced stage of integration which is expected to be completed by the end of September-2024. Some of them have completed all the mandatory testing and ready to push monthly P-ll for Sept. 2024 through API.

In a communication to sugar mills, the Under Secretary to the Government of India, Sunil Kumar Swarnkar, stated, “All the sugar mills were directed to develop their module for API integration as per the APl document shared by the NSWS team. A series of meetings were held and the importance of API integration was emphasized and it was underscored that this task must be completed within a strict 100-day agenda. During these meetings, the issues faced by the sugar mills while testing their APl module, were resolved. It has been observed that some of the sugar mills have not started the development of their APl module so far which is a matter of concern. This delay on the part of some sugar mills may affect the API integration in time bound manner.”

“You are directed to develop API module for your sugar mills and complete the entire process of integration in a time bound manner. For ready reference, Revised API document, Updated Validation sheet, Sample CURL P2 API, steps to be taken for integration, are annexed. All are requested to feel free to raise your issue, if any, through email on sostat.dsvo@gov.in and 011-233823737.” he further added.

The recently released draft Sugar (Control) Order 2024 also mentions about APIs. Clause 10 of the order pertains to the Power to Call for Information, etc. which states that the Central Government or any person authorised in this behalf by the Central Government may, with a view to securing compliance with this Order, or to satisfy itself that any order or direction issued under this Order is complied with,- (a) require any producer or dealer to furnish within such period or at such intervals as may be specified, such information, returns or reports and in such forms including digital forms, and to integrate their Digital Systems with the Digital system of Central Government through API or any other mode and to allow information sharing of such information already shared with any Government organisation to ensure authenticity of data and compliance, as may be required; and (b) prescribe the manner in which accounts of any sales, purchases or other transactions of sugar and its by products should be kept.
